Social networking websites like Orkut, Facebook, MySpace are very addictive and people tend to spend lot of time on such website. Sometimes, parents or guardians might want to block access to such websites and prevent other members in the house wasting their precious time. You can easily block access to such websites without any software install, just follow steps below:
Block Orkut, Facebook, MySpace websites
1. Goto Start > Run and type following command and click on OK button.
notepad c:WINDOWSsystem32driversetchosts
2. A new Notepad window will open with lot text. Scroll down to the last line and add following code in the end.
127.0.0.1 orkut.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
3. Save the notepad file by going to File > Save. Now try to open either of Orkut, MySpace or Facebook – they wont open on your computer. Similarly, you can block any website on the computer.
Unblock Orkut, MySpace, Facebook websites
Open Notepad file as explained in step 1 and delete above added code. Click File > Save and previously blocked websites should open fine on the computer.
through google search page one can access to orkut .is it is possible to block this path also ……if it is plz tell…………………
Vikas, you can block google.com using similar method and remove the indirect Orkut access path as well

goto to c:\windows\system32\drivers and open hosts file with notepad
and type IP address save it…….

i cant find the file hosts so what do i do?

i did this exactly as it said and it did not work for me, im running vista 32 bit and i know i did exactly as it said, but it did not block these sites from my computer.
i did the same to unblock;but after deleting the entered id when i click file<save, it shows there is no path; ie i cant delete the blocked id…please help
