Add spacing between words in Microsoft Word


Sometimes we need to add additional spacing between words and characters in a text document. Microsoft Word has in built feature that allows you to increase or decrease spacing between selected characters in a document.

Change spacing between characters

Select specific text in the document using mouse and then click on menu option Format > Font. In the new window, click on character spacing tab. Then select expanded or condensed option to increase or decrease spacing between characters.


Word spacing NOT character spacing!

Unfortunately, this feature only add or reduce space between different alphabets or characters. Incase you need to add more space between different words then use manual method of hitting spacebar after or before the word, like where you need to add more space.
