How to identify or detect language of text or website?

Sometimes we encounter a webpage with language unknown to us. We need to quickly identify the language and then translate that webpage (or website or text) into language known to us.

Identify language online

Google Translate is very handy way to identify language of text or website. Just paste or write selected text or website URL address and then select ‘detect language’ option from drop down menu. In the next dropdown select language known to you and hit the translate button. As seen below you will get the language of original and translated text.

Offline software for language

Incase you do not have live internet all the time, you can use program like Polyglot 3000. This free software can automatically identify the language used in a text, phrase, or even a single word. It can recognize over 400 languages and is very easy to use.
