Find shared folders & stop sharing on Windows PC


Sometimes we share folders with friends on the network and forget to turn off sharing. This can be very critical for data in the shared folders. Hence, it is important to turn off sharing when not required. For this we need to know shared folders on Windows 8 and 7 computer. Fortunately, there are quick and easy ways to identify shared folders on Windows PC.

1. In the search box type compmgmt.msc and press the Enter key. This will open Computer Management window on your computer. It list host of tools on the left panel with related information showing on the right panel.

2. Click on the Shared Folders option and then click on Shares option. To stop sharing, right click on the listing under Share Name column. Similarly, you can stop sharing for any folder as listed there.

Windows Command to view Shared Folders on computer

1. In the Start search box type cmd and press the Enter key to open Command Prompt window. Then type net share in the command prompt window and press Enter.

2. It will automatically list all shared folders on your Windows 8 and 7 computer. Path of shared folders is listed next to each shared folder for easy identification. If you prefer using commands, then this is quicker method to view shared folders on Windows.
