What is Windows 7 ‘E version’ & ‘N version’ editions?

Windows 7 is an upcoming operating system from Microsoft which should be out on Oct 22, 2009. It will be available in different versions like Home premium, professional, ultimate. Besides these, there will be two special edition of Windows 7, which are: ‘E version’ & ‘N version’ editions.

What is E version Windows 7 edition?

windows7-logoWindows 7 ‘E version’ is only for Europe (UK) market. This will be standard Windows 7 operating without web browser like Internet Explorer 8. Users of Window 7 ‘E version’ edition will have to install web browser like Internet Explorer 8 separately after Windows install. You can download or order free CD of Internet Explorer 8 browser.

This will also have edition variations like: Windows 7 E Home Premium, Windows 7 E Professional, Windows 7 E Ultimate and Windows 7 E Starter editions. This edition has been result of court ruling which prohibits Microsoft to bundle their web browser (IE8) with Windows 7 operating system.

What is N version Windows 7 edition?

N version edition is same as ‘E version’ edition of Windows 7 without Windows Media Player. Hence this edition will be without web browser like Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
